ST. LOUIS – (Business Wire) –June 23, 2004 – International Fuel Technology Inc. (OTC BB: IFUE), the developer of a series of environmental fuel additives and fuel blends designed to increase fuel economy and reduce harmful emissions, announces the completion of diesel additive testing with medium revolutions per minute (“rpm”) engine operation at Prodrive, an independent U.K. based test facility (www.prodrive.com).
Prodrive is the largest independent engine, fuels and lubricants test laboratory in the U.K. with additional locations in the United States, Australia and Southeast Asia. Prodrive is also a world renown independent motorsport company managing integrated full service programs for vehicle manufacturers including Ferrari, Aston Martin, Subaru and Ford.
The primary purpose of the Prodrive testing was to measure fuel economy improvement using IFT's proprietary patent pending diesel fuel additive, DiesolIFT™, at medium rpm engine operation. Straight European EN590 diesel and a fuel blend of straight European EN590 diesel plus DiesolIFT™ were compared at various engine rpm’s. The test results demonstrated that use of DiesolIFT™, at a treat ratio of 1 to 600, improved fuel economy by 11.7% when the engine operated at an rpm level of 1,200. On average, across a range of rpm’s, use of DiesolIFT™ increased fuel economy by over 7%. (European EN590 diesel is similar to low sulfur diesel sold in the U.S.)
Ian Hurst, IFT's Technical Development Manager stated, "The efficacy of our proprietary technology has been demonstrated at numerous independent test facilities around the world. The average fuel economy gains we achieved at Prodrive are consistent with test results we have achieved to date."
Gary Kirk, IFT's Director of Sales and Marketing added, "The Prodrive test results will clearly enhance our marketing efforts to medium rpm applications such as the rail, marine and stationary generation industries. Going forward we will continue selected independent testing to confirm additional performance benefits of our additive technology and focus our marketing efforts towards those applications where such benefits can produce revenue opportunities for the Company."
